Welcome to your March blog! And how about a welcome for the coming of Spring, which begins at the equinox on March 20th? A March Spring is the time of ‘out with the old, in with the new’ all over the Northern Hemisphere. Do you and your family have any annual spring cleaning rituals? At Bimmer Rescue, we want to challenge you to extend that house clean-up to your BMW. It’s a gorgeous, luxurious machine, and even if you have used your BMW less this year, it deserves a little TLC. We recommend the following course of clean-up: A complete clean. A full car wash and wax, with a vacuuming of the car’s cabin and engine. Detailing. A full wipe down with a powerful cleaner to remove any potential COVID-19 germs as well as anything else festering. Anything that doesn’t have an organized spot in the car should be removed. Minor dents and scratches. If your BMW has been knocked around a bit-- people opening ... read more

With November approaching, despite the hardships of the past year, it’s important to recognize that we’ve survived, and to give thanks for that. As we gather together for Thanksgiving at the end of the month, perhaps it’s a good time to give praise to that family member that we rely on too readily and credit too little: our cars. You can’t give your BMW a slice of pumpkin pie or the drumstick, or even a place at the table, but you can show a little more love to your car in the year ahead. Here’s a list of ideas to show your BMW the love over the next year: Keep it clean inside and out. Dirt inside your BMW is unhealthy for you, and dirt n the outside of your BMW can get caught in your car’s systems, choking them. Also, a clean car is a happier driver… and you are less anxious to protect a car that you think of as dirty. Clean car = safer car. Protect the interior. If your BMW has a leather interior, it&rsqu ... read more

A community is more than just a diverse group of people. It’s families and it’s also strangers who trust each other to do right by each other... an ecosystem of justice and an economic system of interdependence and reliance. We can’t claim to know everyone around us, but the more we know each other, the more we strengthen the bonds of community. By promoting organizations that add good things to our community, we create a better society for Richmond, Short Pump, The West End, and The Fan District. Supporting each other is supporting ourselves. That’s why Bimmer Rescue has a community outreach program: we want to feed back into our community and help it grow, knowing that we will grow with it, and be enriched by it with better lives and a happier standard of living. Here are some of the community outreach programs that Bimmer Rescue takes part in: Richmond Arts Scene Did you know that we host a family-friendly art opening at Bimm ... read more

Have you heard of Automotive Endurance Racing? Here at Bimmer Rescue, it’s our passion. Many people also call it LeMons Racing, and it’s a lot of fun. Automotive Endurance Racing is when you take an old beater car and you race it for 24 hours. Automotive Endurance Racing is a lot more affordable than traditional car racing and we’d like to think it’s a lot of fun. They’re lemons, after all. Here’s a video that explains the sport: But why are the folks at Bimmer Rescue so passionate about Automotive Endurance Racing? For one, it allows our gearhead crew to have fun modifying our old-model BMWs. For another, its a team effort where we all get together and take turns racing the cars. It’s an amateur sport, but we absolutely love it! Now that you know what Automotive Endurance Racing is, here are three reasons why YOU can benefit from Bimmer Rescue’s passion: It gives our crew the opportunity to dive more deeply into automotive tech ... read more

When it comes to your BMW, we already know just how much you love your car. A BMW is special; not like other vehicles. It moves in ways that make running errands fun. You no longer want to send your spouse to the market for that unforgotten item off of the grocery list. You now seek out roads with twists and turns galore. A vacation no longer has to include a plane ride and in fact. This time of year gives you an opportunity to show your love to your special person, but it’s also a time to show your love for your BMW. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to make your BMW feel loved. Start with a good vacuuming. Throw away all the built up trash such as receipts or empty snack bags. Wipe down the dash and steering wheel. Use a window cleaner on the inside windows. Install a trash bin or bag to help you keep down the clutter. Buy an organizational item or two to help keep things nice and tidy. If you do want to spend a little bit of money to show your love, pr ... read more

When it comes to BMWs, owners and drivers of them tend to be incredibly passionate about their beloved vehicles. If you’ve never driven one, you might not understand why. The BMW experience is exactly that: a true experience of style and performance every time you slide behind the wheel. Reasons for iconic and cult status include, but are not limited to: Driving a BMW is fun even if it’s just to the store. While the open road is cool, any road is fun for the BMW driver. Turns, curves, corners, oh my! They are all fun and easy to handle when driving your BMW. There’s a reason you still see so many older models on the roads. If you take care of them, they will take care of you. BMWs are well built and made to last, as long as you keep up with the maintenance. Every road is a good ... read more

Winter can be a beautiful wonderland, but it can also provide for some treacherous driving. The best advice is to stay warm and safe at home, but that’s not always possible. Only go out if you absolutely have to, but we also know you can’t stay at home all winter long! When you’re driving in cold weather, remember to keep extra food and water, warm clothes, a flashlight with extra batteries, ice scraper, extra meds, warm blankets, and anything else that could help you stay cozy and happy if you happen to get stuck out there. Proper tire inflation, along with good tread, can help you stay on the road. Keeping your gas tank half full at all times is also a great idea in case you get stuck along the way. If you warm up your car, make sure it’s done in a well-ventilated area and never in a closed-in space, like your garage. When you are driving in the snow: Don’t be in a hurry and go slow. Slow down and speed up more slowly than usual to help make su ... read more

As we head into fall, there’s nothing nicer than having a clean car to enjoy along with the change of season. We put a lot into making our cars look nice, from washing and waxing, to deep cleaning our interiors. It can be really difficult to keep the insides of our cars clean, but here are a few ideas that should help you make it last. Muffin tin liners are great for muffins and cupcakes, but did you know that they are also great for helping you keep your cup holders clean? They can catch most of the debris that mysteriously (and not so mysteriously!) ends up creating a mess. Not only that, but they are also super easy to change out and are not costly. Fall weather brings more rain. One way to help keep your windshield wipers streak free is to quickly douse them with rubbing alcohol. This will greatly help to keep your windshield clear and easy to see through because it will help your wipers effectively do their job. You’ll want to use some windex on the inside of your wi ... read more

We live in a spectacular part of the world that has so much to offer. We are fortunate enough to be close to some incredible outdoor areas that host gardens, animals, and world-famous art collections. When you have a yearning for some culture out in the sun, here are three of our favorites: Maymont Victorian Estate and Public Park One of the loveliest outdoor locations in Richmond, there’s truly something for everyone within this 100-acre treasure. There’s a reason so many couples have held their weddings here, but there’s also so much to see and do for everyone. You can tour the historic mansion-turned museum, explore the arboretum and formal gardens, and even spend time with animals at the native wildlife exhibits, the nature center, and the Children’s Farm.
