How to Prepare Your Car for the Spring Season

Say goodbye to winter and hello to spring. While we're sure most of you are more likely to leave your homes and do exciting things this season, there are certain things you should do to take care of your car first. Your vehicle has fought through the unpleasant effects of winter, so it needs some freshening up before handling the warmer temperature. Here's a list of items to restore and improve your vehicle's condition and give it a fresh new start before the summertime.

Check and Rotate Tires

Tire maintenance is critical in every season. When springtime comes around, please remember to check your tire pressure to match the automaker's recommended psi. Plus, it would be good to rotate them to promote even wear. Lastly, make sure they have enough tread on them to grip the dry or wet roads this spring.

Brake Check

Similar to tires, brakes are another component that is needed to keep you and others safe. Check whether your braking time is sufficient and whether your brakes make any unusual sounds. If you need help checking your many brake components, look no further than Bimmer Rescue for help.

Change Oil

Oil changes should always be done on time. If the springtime calls for another oil change, then do it. Otherwise, remember to periodically check your oil level and condition to spot any issues early on. This will make sure your engine is getting the proper lubrication it needs.

Top Off Fluids

Springtime is a great time to get top off your essential fluids, including the windshield washer fluid, power steering fluid, brake fluid, coolant, etc. Some industry experts also recommend getting a transmission fluid flush when spring rolls around.

Replace Windshield Wiper Blades

If your wiper blades show any signs of wear, like streaks or skipping, it's good to replace them before the rainy season begins. You'll want them to clear off the water thoroughly so that you can see while driving through heavy rain.
